OBIT SINCLAIR, STEVEN ALLEN

SINCLAIR, Steven Allen, 40, of Blacksburg, died Friday, June 11, 1993, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Dr. Sinclair was a professor in the College of Forestry and Wildlife Resources at VA Tech. He was a native of Albemarle, N.C., receiving his undergraduate degree with honors at North Carolina State University. He earned a master's degree and Ph.D. in forest products marketing and a master of business administration from VA Tech. A pioneer in Research of Forest Products, he was instrumental in establishing a Center for Forest Products Marketing at VA Tech. He was recently appointed to an endowed chair as a Thomas Brooks Professor of Forest Products. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick. Surviving are his wife, Karen Weikle Sinclair; a son, Brian; and a daughter, Lyndsey, all of the home; his parents, Allen and Meg Sinclair, Albemarle, N.C.; one brother, Art Sinclair, Chester; one sister, Cathy Hill, Winston-Salem, N.C. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Blacksburg Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the College of Forestry and Wildlife Resources, where a scholarship fund will be established in honor of Steven A. Sinclair, care of 324 Cheatham Hall, VA Tech, Blacksburg, Va. 24061. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
