GOP TICKET STANDS FOR TRADITIONAL VALUES

THE DEMOCRATIC Party of Virginia stood for mainstream American values as I grew up. But somewhere, something happened. Slowly at first, but with increasing consistency, the party of principles became the extremist party. They now champion causes of governmental control of our lives, higher taxes, more spending, social experimentation, unchecked abortion, homosexual rights, welfare dependency, softness on criminals, etc.

This year in Virginia there will be a choice, an opportunity to return to those values. At the Virginia Republicans' state convention, at which I served as a delegate, we chose three men who offer us a return to the values most of us hold dear.

We have the chance to lessen governmental interference in our lives, hold the line on taxes, decrease spending through efficiency, return schools to the basics, let parents know about teen abortions, promote workfare instead of welfare and keep violent criminals off the streets longer.

These are mainstream issues for which George Allen, Mike Farris and Jim Gilmore stand. If you hear accusations that they are extremists, consider what they believe and understand who the real extremists are. E. WAYNE BROOKS TROUTVILLE
