Khris Law: Tunstall, outfielder. Law hit .452 (28-for-62) with five home runs, 25 RBI and 22 steals. Great range and arm in center field. Also went 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 29 innings as a pitcher for a team that set a school record for victories.
Al Holland Jr.: William Fleming, infielder. Holland, whose father was a major-league pitcher, was the Roanoke Valley District player of the year after hitting .623 (24-for-40) with four homers, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored and 10 steals. He played shortstop and pitched for Fleming.
Jason Anderson: Glenvar, pitcher. Repeated as All-Timesland after leading the Highlanders to the Group A Region C title and the state quarterfinals. Anderson pitched his way to a 6-1 record, with a 0.94 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 52 innings. The left-hander gave up only 18 hits. He also batted .428 with 17 RBI and 99 total bases as a first baseman.
Michael "Whitey" Blankenship: Narrows, outfielder. Hit .587 with seven home runs, 30 RBI and 17 steals (in 18 attempts). He did not make an error in center field. Will play on the East squad at the four-team U.S. Olympic Sports Festival in July. He was one of 64 players selected from around the nation.
Kevin Davis: Cave Spring, outfielder. Batted .400 with five home runs and 35 RBI while hitting cleanup for the surprising Roanoke Valley District champions. Fielded 1.000.
Kevin Saunders: William Byrd, catcher. Batted .448 with a homer and 17 RBI while throwing out seven of 12 would-be base stealers. Has a very good arm. Also used on the mound, where he was effective for a surprising team that won its first 16 games en route to its second consecutive Blue Ridge District regular- season and tournament titles.
Will Goodman: Cave Spring, infielder. The Knights' leader and best all- around player batted .450 with three homers and 22 RBI. Fielded .982 while playing third and first and pitching. Went 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA and six saves.
Kelly Dampeer: Northside, designated hitter. The Vikings' shortstop is a fine all-around player who holds a school record with 111 hits in four years. This season, he hit .463 (25-for-54) with six homers and 24 RBI. Struck out only three times and was successful on 15 of 17 steal attempts. Fielded .970. Signed with Radford University.
Gary Wiggins: William Byrd, infielder. The shortstop hit .404 with seven home runs and 29 RBI, as well as 21 walks. Two of the homers came in one day as the Terriers won two games to claim the Blue Ridge District tournament title.
Bubba Scarce: Tunstall, pitcher. He went 9-1 with a 1.10 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 40 innings. Also hit .385 with four home runs and a team-leading 28 RBI. Played shortstop when he wasn't pitching.
Owen Shields: Tunstall, Timesland coach of the year. Lost six players to graduation, including his best pitcher and best hitter, but still guided the team to a school record for victories as it won 21 in a row. Tunstall won the Piedmont District regular-season and tournament titles and went to the Region III playoffs for the second year in a row.
