RAIN WASHES OUT FEATURE RACE AT FCS

Midway through Saturday night's racing card, rain washed out the balance of the Mountain Dew/Hoosier Tire 300 at Franklin County Speedway.

The rain hit before the start of the 100-lap Late Model Stock race.

Three divisions were completed before the rain, and their results will stand.

In the Pure Stock opener, top qualifier Red Hartman won the first race of his career. Kenny McKinney, fifth in the points race, was second, ahead of Ed Underwood, sixth in points. (Hartman's victory on June 5 was disallowed because his Chevrolet Monte Carlo did not pass postrace inspection, according to chief inspector Glenn Reed.)

Steve Lynch overtook points leader Tommy Dean on lap 18 of the Mini Stock race, driving to his fourth victory of the season. John Hall and Wayne Corprew finished second and third, respectively. Dean developed engine problems and finished seventh.

Kenny Wagner defeated seven-time winner Phillip VanDerVeer in the Street Stock Division. Wagner, who also has competed in the Late Model class this season, has two victories in two Street Stock starts.

VanDerVeer finished second, and Lonnie Foley was third. - Staff report
