OBIT-OVERSTREET, LUDIE JANE GARRETT

OVERSTREET, Ludie Jane Garrett, 93, of Buena Vista, died June 11, 1993, in a Clifton Forge nursing home. She was born February 24, 1900, in Amherst County, the daughter of the late William and Mary Coleman Garrett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Overstreet; two daughters, Ruby Grant and Helen Grant Sorrels; a great-granddaughter, Laura Humphrey; two sisters, Willie Garrett Grand and Irene Garrett Grand; three brothers, Cordie, James and Jesse Garrett. Surviving are one daughter, Alma Grant Cash, Christiansburg; one brother, Lloyd Garrett, Buena Vista; four granddaughters, Linda Cash, Donna Lindsay Humphrey, Carolyn Lindsay Stirrett and Joyce Lindsay Mikels; three grandsons, Mark Cash, James Cash Jr., Larry Lindsay; a special son-in-law, J. W. (Red) Sorrels, Buena Vista; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Mary Spence. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Lomax Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David Bain. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
