HOLD THE MAYO

MIKE Mayo's May 29 movie review may be his opinion (" `Mario Bros.' isn't all that super"). But, of course, he's never played the darn game.

In his review, he said that "the characters have no more depth and believability than . . . well, characters in a video game." Well, duh! It's based on a video game! Mayo has not witnessed or played the Mario game, and I think he was either sleeping through the whole movie or is blind. I don't care what he said, "Super Mario Bros." is about the most exciting movie I've ever seen. The plot is about Mario and Luigi rescuing a princess.

And another thing: The set has nothing to do with "Batman" at all. The set is like nothing I've seen before. Mayo has the story down all right, but what he doesn't have down is the intensity of it all.

When I go to a movie, I like a soda and buttered popcorn - but no Mayo. SEAN PRICE CHRISTIANSBURG
