OBIT KEY, THOMAS EARL

KEY, Thomas Earl, 67, of Route 5, Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 13, 1993, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on April 14, 1926, a son of the late Willie Austin Key and Callie Croft Key. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Willie Merle Key Fink and a brother, Harry Clark Key. He was a member of Otterville United Methodist Church, an employee of Rubatex, served in the National Guard and was also a dairy farmer. He is survived by his wife, Christine Abbott Key; five sons, Donald Earl Key, Wayne Edward Key, Dennis Wallace Key, Thomas Earl Key Jr., and Jay Abbott Key, all of Bedford; five daughters-in-law; seven grandchildren; six brothers, John Andrew Key, Willie Austin Key Jr., James Kenneth Key, Robert Edward Key, Bernard Clyde Key and Gerald Lee (Bobo) Key, all of Bedford; six sisters-in-law; seven sisters, Mae Key Toms, Helen Key Arrington, Nadine Key Creasy, Marynell Key Karnes, Patsy Key Claytor Mitchell, all of Bedford, Mildred Key Crawford of Covington and Judy Key Dickerson of Goode; six brothers-in-law; 50 nieces and nephews; 54 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-niece. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 15, 1993, at 1 p.m. from Updike Funeral Chapel by Rev. Pat Tony, with interment in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home in Bedford.
