SOUTHERN FLAG, SOUTHERN BOND

IN RESPONSE to Wayne Carlson's June 6 letter entitled "Oh that South might rise again":

He states that the Confederate flag is a living symbol of all that was good in the South and of our undying belief in the self-determination of Southern people - black, white and red.

Yes, blacks and Indians determined to be free, and whites determined that the bond was a belief in and love for Southern tradition and culture in which slavery was not the issue. That's the case whether the liberal media report it that way or not. R. BROOKS McGHEE GOODVIEW
