KEY 1992 FIGURES AT VA MEDICAL CENTER, ONE YEAR LATER

CLARK GRANINGER: Graninger was removed from his job as director of the Salem VA medical center in April 1992. He worked briefly as a consultant in the VA's Eastern Region Office in Fort Howard, Md. Graninger retired in January and lives in Colorado.

LARRY EDWARDS: Edwards, who was chief of staff, had refused to answer John Presley's call for his resignation and contested the call with two lawsuits. One claimed violation of Freedom of Information Act and another claimed violation of his privacy. Both suits are pending in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. The lawsuits did not prevent the VA from firing Edwards in September. He now works in private practice in St. Louis.

MARY JENKINS-LUMMUS: Jenkins-Lummus voluntarily resigned from her post as chief of nursing services in July. She now works as associate director for nursing at the VA medical center in Columbia, Mo. ALMA LEE: Lee was re-elected president of the American Federation of Government Employees local in Salem last spring. In November, she was elected president of the National VA Council, whose membership includes 45,000 VA employees nationwide.
