Winners will get cash prizes and their work will be exhibited during the festival, which will run from July 31 to Aug. 15.
Youth entries from photographers through age 13 will be judged in two categories: color and black-and-white. Prizes of $50, $35, $25 and $15 will be awarded in each category.
Adult contestants will be divided between amateur and professional categories. Each category offers a $200 award, six $150 awards and six $75 awards.
Entry fees are $4 per photograph in adult competition and $2 for youth competition. More information on entry requirements is available from the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, 179 E. Main St., Abingdon 24210 (telephone 628-8141 or 628-1486).
The festival was organized in 1948 by the late Robert Porterfield, founder of Barter Theatre, to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of the area.
