Eagle-Picher Industries, Cincinnati parent of the Wolverine gaskets plant in Blacksburg, on Tuesday reported second-quarter sales of $176.4 million compared with $160.5 million for the 1992 quarter. Operating income rose to $14.4 million from $14.1 million. Net income was $11.8 million, or $1.06 per share, compared with $9.3 million, or 85 cents per share. Costs of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization were $1.1 million. At the end of the quarter, the company's cash position was $77.7 million.
