OBIT DUNCAN, MARY ELIZABETH

DUNCAN, Mary Elizabeth, 82, of Newport, died Monday, June 14, 1993, in a Blacksburg nursing home. She was born January 26, 1911, in Pearisburg, Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Dillon Bowles. Mrs. Duncan was a faithful member of the Newport-Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Grover Duncan. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Bill Henderson, Newport; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Mary Bowles, Ripplemead, Va.; three loving grandchildren and their spouses, Bill and Vicki Peters Tickle, Newport, Jerry ("Herk") and Beth Peters Sparks, Narrows, and Bill and Debbie Peters, Lilburn, Georgia; also five very special great-grandchildren, Philip Tickle, Brandon and Amber Sparks and Rachel and Ryan Peters; also several nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 17, 1993, at 2 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at Pembroke, Va. with the Rev. Reggie Rumburg and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Newport - Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Newport, Va.
