HOW MUCH ARE THEY WORTH?

The 1992 financial disclosure forms for members of Congress were released last week. Here's what they show for Virginia's two senators and Western Virginia's three congressmen:

SENATE

CHARLES ROBB/Democrat

Earned Income: $129,500, congressional salary.

Honoraria, all donated to charity: none.

Major assets: Robb lists a Texas ranch, real estate and land partnerships and a timberland venture in Alabama worth more than $2 million.

Major sources of unearned income: He reported rent and interest from the partnership holdings of between $10,200 and $31,000.

Major liabilities: He cited a margin account at brokerage firm Dean Witter valued at $15,001 to $50,000.

Gifts: none.

Other: In May 1992, Robb sold Virginia Housing Development Authority bonds for between $100,001 and $250,000. The Urban Institute flew Robb from Washington, D.C., to West Palm Beach, Fla., for a conference in February, and the Disabled American Vets covered his travel expenses for a speech in Reno, Nev.

JOHN WARNER/Republican

Earned Income: $129,500, congressional salary.

Honoraria, all donated to charity: $500

Major assets: Warner owns two large Virginia farms, one in Middleburg of 569 acres and the other in Milldale of 1,249 acres, each worth more than $1 million; an office building in Middleburg worth between $100,001 and $250,000; and investment funds totaling more than $1 million.

Major sources of unearned income: Warner reported income of $103,665 from operations at Middleburg farm, including $5,503 from sales of breeding cattle; and dividends from investment funds totaling more than $15,000.

Major liabilities: none.

Gifts: none.

Other: The Aspen Institute, a defense think tank, flew Warner from Washington, D.C., to Montego Bay, Jamaica, for a conference on U.S.-Soviet relations in January 1992. Warner, at the time, was the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

L.F. PAYNE/5th District/Democrat

Earned Income: $129,500, congressional salary.

Honoraria, all donated to charity: none.

Major assets: Payne listed a condominium-rental property in Washington, D.C., valued at $250,000 to $500,000; L.F. Payne retirement trust valued at $250,000 to $500,000; and real estate from Great Plains Partnership, valued at $100,000 to $250,000.

Major sources of unearned income: He reported a L.F. Payne for Congress campaign loan, valued at $50,000 to $100,000; trust distribution from L.F. Payne retirement trust, valued at $15,000 to $50,000; and rent from Washington property, valued at $5,000 to $15,000.

Major liabilities: Payne cited the mortgage on the condominium, valued at $100,000 to $250,000.

Gifts: none.

BOB GOODLATTE/6th District/Republican

Earned Income: $26,605.

Honoraria, all donated to charity: none.

Major assets: He reported stock valued at between $50,001 and $100,000 in the Roanoke law firm of Bird, Kinder & Huffman.

Major sources of unearned income: Goodlatte received interest of between $1,001 and $2,500 on a joint savings account at Central Fidelity Bank.

Major liabilities: He has a mortgage valued at between $250,001 and $500,000.

Gifts: none.

Other: A freshman this year who spent most of last year campaigning, Goodlatte's earned income was his 1992 salary from Bird, Kinder & Huffman.

RICK BOUCHER/9th District/Democrat

Earned Income: $129,500, congressional salary.

Honoraria, all donated to charity: none.

Major assets: Boucher listed bank savings accounts valued at $67,004 to $180,000.

Major sources of unearned income: He received interest on the accounts of $2,002 to $5,000.

Major liabilities: none.

Gifts: none.

Other: Boucher took 10 trips at corporate expense to destinations ranging from Bermuda to Indian Wells, Calif.
