IN SERVICE

NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS BENJAMIN A. RAY, son of Ronald K. and Georgia K. Ray of Catawba, is in the Adriatic Sea aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, based in Norfolk.

The ship is participating in Operation Deny Flight, a NATO operation in which allied forces are enforcing a United Nations no-fly zone over Bosnia-Herzegovina. Ray is a 1991 graduate of Northside High School.

\ NAVY AIRMAN KEITH A. McDANIEL, son of Jack H. and Sue S. McDaniel of 2400 Twelve O'Clock Knob Road, Salem, has returned from a six-month deployment to Keflavik, Iceland, with Patrol Squadron 5, based in Jacksonville, Fla. The squadron was awarded the Battle Efficiency Ribbon. McDaniel is a 1989 graduate of Salem High School.

\ ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PFC. LISA D. SNIDER, daughter of Donna and Nelson Snider of New Castle, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is a 1988 graduate of New Castle High School.
