OBIT BARBOUR, JAMES GARLAND

BARBOUR, James Garland, 68, of Route 3, Moneta, died Thursday, June 17, 1993. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Normandy, Northern France and Ardennes Theatres and the Rhineland in Central Europe, serving with the 148th Engineering Combat Batallion. He was retired from the cinderblock business and is survived by his wife, Lois Lynch Barbour; his children, James Edward Barbour, Frederick, Md., Gladys Marie Weatherly, San Angelo, Texas, Louise Gaynelle Hildenbrand, Severn, Md., Beverly Kay Lowe, Ferndale, Md., Barney Boyce Barbour, Frederick, Md., Ronald Royce Barbour, Prospect, Tenn., Julie Joyce Slatter, San Angelo, Texas, Donald David Barbour, Moneta, Daniel Dale Barbour, Baltimore, Md.; a brother, David Barbour, Moneta; his sisters, Frances Dyer, Roanoke, Barbara Ann Martin, Greensboro, N.C.; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Memorial graveside services will be held in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Saturday, June 19, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Feather officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to your favorite charity in his memory. Oakey's Vinton Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements.
