When the hooligans in Washington, D.C., give us everything we don't want this time around, fear not - it won't be the last increase! They will ask us to "share" and "sacrifice" some more, all in the cause of "government must do more." The BTU tax and Medicare payments reduced. Cost of these proposals will be paid for by those that can afford it most.
Now more words, such as health-care system, retirees, jobs, government waste and inefficiency, entitlements, cuts in Medicare, shared sacrifice, deficit reduction, health-care reform, uninsured Americans, special-interest groups, entitlement programs, general welfare, and the list goes on.
Are you dizzy yet? Rules of the game change daily. Just wait until you open the paper tomorrow. It may say reach out and tax someone.
We can vote them out in '94. Think, then act. Vote! DON M. KOTCHISH SALEM
