CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN ON COEBURN BYPASS

A ground-breaking ceremony will formally launch construction of the Coeburn bypass on Alternate U.S. 58 at 1:30 p.m. June 28.

The 4.2-mile project will be in two parts. The first 1.7-mile four-lane section will be built by Battle Ridge Companies of Charleston, W.Va., for $15.5 million. The second 2.5-mile phase, two lanes on a four-lane right-of-way, will be advertised for contract bids this summer. Completion is scheduled for 1995. - Southwest bureau
