WRONG-WAY CAR RUNS INTO VEHICLE, KILLING 2

The drivers of two cars died in a collision shortly before noon Saturday in Floyd County when one vehicle went into the wrong lane.

Tangie Michelle Thomas, 16, of Alum Ridge, was driving north on U.S. 221 but was in the southbound lane. She collided with a southbound car driven by Robert Eugene Rorrer, 48, of Floyd.

Both were dead at the scene of the accident, said Trooper J.D. Howery. He said Rorrer tried to avoid Thomas' car but his vehicle was hit at an angle.

The accident happened about 11:35 a.m., two-tenths of a mile south of Virginia 860.
