BRILL CRITICISM OF TECH UNFAIR BILL BRILL'S RECENT ARTICLE CRITICIZING

First, there was the long-hoped-for retirement of Brill, which would remove his obsessive bias against Virginia Tech and lack of recognition of local sports. Unfortunately, he only relocated his surroundings and still finds solace in practicing journalistic harassment.

Second, Virginia Tech has long since corrected its approach to athletic academics. They have done so to such an extent that their athletes graduate at a higher rate than their student body in general.

Finally, where are Brill's headlines of the University of Virginia's secretive loan program? Where are his comments on the "less than the minimum" penalty issued by the then-led Dick Schultz NCAA? And where are his comments on the removal of Dick Schultz from leadership of the NCAA as a result of his tenure as AD at UVa?

The Roanoke Times & World-News is known to take a high-integrity position in it's editorial section. Maybe it is finally time to do the same in the sports department. JERYL VEST ROANOKE
