OBIT BURDETTE, JULIA SNEAD

BURDETTE, Julia Snead, 82, of Roanoke, passed away on Friday, June 18, 1993, in a Salem nursing home. She was born in Greenwood, S.C. and had been a Roanoke Valley resident for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke and was a choir director and accomplished artist and musician. She was a graduate of Lander College in Greenwood, S.C. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and proud of being a Washington family descendant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Al S. Burdette. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Walker S. and Juanita H. Burdette; a brother, James K. Snead and a sister, Laura Wells Free, both of Greenwood, S.C.; four grandchildren, Sharon Howard of Roanoke, Stephanie Kepley of Charlotte, N.C., Joni Hubli of Boston, Mass., Christopher M. Burdette of Gainesville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, William Howard III of Roanoke, and Collin Kepley of Charlotte, N.C. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday. Friends wishing to call on the family may do so at the son's home in Roanoke. Arrangements by John M. Oakey and Son, Salem Funeral Home.
