REID, Ruth Sowers, 78, of Roanoke, died on Friday, June 18, 1993, in a
Rocky Mount nursing home. When living in the Roanoke area she attended St.
Paul's Episcopal Church. Survivers include a daughter, Eloise S. Wells of
Salem; a brother, Archie Simmons of Willis, Va.; a sister, Dora Pendelton of
Elliston, Va.; four grandchildren, William Flannagan and Eddie Sowers of
Roanoke, Estell Wells and Johnny Flannagan of Salem; six great-grandchildren,
Kelly Flannagan and Carrie Flannagan of Roanoke, Scott Flannagan and Karen
Flannagan of Salem, Sharon Sowers and William Sowers of Salem. Graveside
service will be held on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery by the
Rev. David N. Neal. Services by John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem.
