OBIT GRAHAM, ROY BALLARD
GRAHAM, Roy Ballard, 76, of Elliston, died Sunday night, June 20, 1993, in
a Roanoke hospital. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, where he lived
on the family farm, Mr. Graham devoted his life to church, family, and
community. He served Big Spring Baptist Church, during his many years of
membership, as a member of the Board of Deacons and as Sunday School
superintendent. Through the years he served his community as a member of the
Virginia Farm Bureau Board of Directors, a member of the Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation Committee, the Montgomery County Public Service
Authority, the Bank of Shawsville Board of Directors, and the Craighill
Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred Cole
Graham; parents, Ballard and Ardella Graham; sisters, Mrs. Ethel Deck and Mrs.
Ruby Stewart. Survivors include his two daughters, Annette Graham David,
Christiansburg, Joyce Graham, Elliston; three grandchildren, Ellen Thompson
Howard, West Point, Graham Thompson and Mark David, Christiansburg; one
brother, Mr. Marvin Graham, Pulaski; three sisters, Mrs. Nell Epperly and Mrs.
Elva Thomas, Roanoke, Mrs. Marie Richardson, Shawsville; one sister-in-law,
Mrs. Helen Hungate, Christiansburg. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday
from the Big Spring Baptist Church in Elliston, conducted by the Rev. Steven
Sholar, with interment in Sherwood Burial Park in Salem, with Masonic
graveside rites. Friends may call from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening or at other
hours at the home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions
be made either to the Shawsville High School Roy and Mildred Graham
Scholarship Fund, c/o Premier Bank, Shawsville, Virginia 24162 or to the
Radford University Roy and Mildred Graham Scholarship Fund, c/o the Office of
Development, Radford University, Radford, Virginia 24141-5767. Arrangements
are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.
