COMMISSION SEEKS ARTISTS' APPLICATIONS

The Virginia Commission for the Arts has announced a Sept. 1 deadline for Artists-in-Education Residency Program artist roster applications. The commission will select qualified artists to be added to the residency-program roster.

The roster includes those in architecture, crafts, creative writing, dance, film and video, folk arts, music, theater and visual arts. The roster is used by schools and other organizations for participation in the commission's residency programs.

Artists new to the residency program concept are encouraged to apply, along with artists who have participated in the past. Artists must submit professional credentials and samples of their work. Also, artists should be able to demonstrate extensive experience in their field and have a strong commitment to working in an educational setting.

For an application form, write or call the Virginia Commission for the Arts, 223 Governor St., Lewis House - Second Floor, Richmond, Va. 23219, (804) 225-3132.
