But Allen, who won the GOP nomination early this month, appears to have made a bigger purchase than did Democrat Mary Sue Terry. Neither campaign will release how much time it is buying.
Allen has purchased air time, mostly during morning and evening news hours, on commercial stations in all major media markets, said campaign spokesman Jay Timmons. The ads will run for at least a week, he said. Terry, by contrast, confined her initial purchase to the Cable News Network.
In his commercials, Allen is pictured at his Northern Albemarle County log home, dining with his family, working and walking with his children.
A recent statewide poll showed that Allen was known to 71 percent of the voters; Terry was recognized by 95 percent.
