OBIT VAUGHT, BELIESA BOURNE
VAUGHT, Beliesa Bourne, age 88, of Elk Creek, mother of fifteen children
and widow of Minor Vaught, passed away Monday, June 21, 1993, at Twin County
Community Hospital, Galax. She was preceded in death by three children,
Charlene Dixon, Johnny Vaught and Doris Day. Surviving are six daughters;
Allene Hash, Annie Carter, both of Elk Creek, Catherine Hagee, Galax, Lois
Lyons, Fork, Md., Mattie Wingate, Crockett, Peggy Eckel, Fredricksburg; six
sons, Robert Vaught, Bel Air, Md., Dan Vaught, Atkins, Ted Vaught,
Independence, Lawrence Vaught, David Vaught, both of Elk Creek, Lester Vaught,
Galax; two brothers, Raymond Bourne, Baltimore, Md. and Henry Bourne,
Wytheville; twenty-seven grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, thirty-six
great-grandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren and seventeen
great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, 2 p.m.
in Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Rev. David Olinger and Rev. Fred
Jennings officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. The body will remain
at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, and will be taken to the
church thirty minutes preceding service to lie in state. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7 to 9. In liew of
flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the
Elk creek Rescue suad, P. O. Box 147, Elk Creek, Va. 24326. Reins-Sturdivant
Funeral Home, Independence, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
