OBIT STRATTIS, PHILIP

STRATTIS, Philip, 66, of Sumter, S.C., and formerly of Pearisburg, died Saturday, June 19, 1993, in a Sumter hospital. Born in Hensley, W.Va., he was a son of the late Mike and Katie Howell Strattis. Mr. Strattis was a member of the Plaza Church of Christ in Sumter, and had served as a minister in the Church of Christ for 41 years. He was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tenn. He was retired from the N&W Railroad, a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, and was a World War II Navy Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lindsey Strattis; two brothers, Billy Ray Strattis and James Strattis, both of Pipestem, W.Va.; a sister, Mrs. Rosa Alberty of Mullins, W.Va.; a niece and nephew, Angie and James Hall of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Strattis, and a sister Ella Lucion. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, Pembroke, with Mr. Max Miller and Mr. Tim Jorgensen officiating. Entombment will be in a private mausoleum in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
