Army Spec. MICHAEL E. SHAFFER, son of Stephen D. Shaffer, Blacksburg, and Pvt. DARRELL E. LUCAS, son of Vicki L. and Donnie E. Lucas, Christiansburg, have completed the cavalry scout course at Fort Knox, Ky.

Marine Lance Cpl. DAVID W. PERDUE, son of Irvin W. and Norma V. Perdue, Radford, has reported to the 3rd Combat Engineering Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan.

Marine Pfc. JOHNATHAN L. BERRY, son of Scott J. and Lynn M. Barry, Floyd, completed recruit training at Marine Corps Depot, Parris Island, S.C., and was given his present rank.
