After opening the second half of the Carolina League baseball season with two victories, the Salem Buccaneers dropped an 8-2 decision to the Durham Bulls on Wednesday night at Durham Athletic Park.
Jon Farrell gave the Bucs the lead with a two-run homer in the first inning, but Salem was held to two hits the rest of the way by Durham starter Brian Boltz and reliever John Wilder.
The Bulls rocked Bucs starter Gary Wilson for all eight runs on six hits and three walks in 3 innings.
Dominic Therrien led the offense for Durham (2-1), going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Mike Warner went 2-for-3 and Pedro Swann was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lansing Marks also drove in two runs.
Salem travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the opener of a four-game series at 7:35 p.m. today.
