OBIT SMITH, RUBY CLARK
SMITH, Ruby Clark, 71, of 184 Houston Ave. N.E., died Monday, June 21,
1993, in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her father and mother,
Earnest E. and Willie B. Clark; a brother, Roy Clark; and a sister, Hazel C.
Dudley. Mrs. Smith was a charter member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church where
she and her husband worked with the youth for many years. She was instrumental
in organizing the Mary-Martha Bible Class and remained a staunch supporting
member of the class. She had a deep love for children and this was reflected
in the many children that were in her care. Surviving are her husband, Earl W.
Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Donna S. and Dick Donithan of Roanoke;
grandchildren, Adam, Emily and Jacob Donithan; brothers, Melvin C. Clark of
Roanoke, Earnest Junior Clark of Buchanan, Preston E. Clark of Daleville;
sisters, Pauline C. Dudley of Buchanan, Elizabeth C. Anderson of Covington. In
lieu of flowers that family suggests that memorials be made to the Benevolence
Fund at Preston Oaks Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m.
Thursday at Preston Oaks Baptist Church with the Rev. James R. Millsaps and
the Rev. William K. Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge
Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
