CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Voluntary Action Center of the Council of Community Services provides a monthly listing of volunteer opportunities available with Roanoke Valley agencies and institutions. For further information on volunteering, call 985-0131.\ \ VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Positions open this month include:

Crew supervisor - Fifth District Employment and Training Consortium. Volunteers are needed to supervise a small crew of young adults performing outdoor and indoor work. Work is two or three days a week from 7 a.m. to noon at various sites. For more information, call Lisa Rich at 981-2520.

Hospital volunteers - Salem Veteran's Affairs Medical Center. Volunteers are needed for dental, occupational therapy and horticulture clinic activities. An orientation session is provided. Youths, age 14 and older, may work eight hours a week. Call Yvonne Gaskins at 982-2463, Ext. 2637, for more information.

Day camp aides - YWCA Central and Salem centers. Staff training is provided for a minimum of four hours a week. For more information, call Sally Howard at 345-9922.

Summer youth volunteer opportunities are available with more than 46 agencies in the following positions: day camp counselors and aides, horseback riding helpers, activity assistants, tree planters, classroom buddies, child care assistants, library helpers, stage hands, tutors, concert production workers and more.
