DOUBLE TALK ABOUT THE BUDGET

I CANNOT understand why the news media, your newspaper included, go along with the double talk out of Congress and the White House. They continually talk of budget reduction and debt reduction, when, in truth, just the opposite is taking place.

According to Clinton's own projections, the budget this year is larger than last year, and the national debt will not be less than $1 trillion larger at the end of his four-year term than at the start of his administration.

The mentions of reduction in the budget refer to phenomenal increases each year, not to its true size. Why not tell your readers the truth? RICHARD M. WATSON NEW CASTLE
