GRIFFIN REACHES JUNIOR GOLF FINAL

Scott Griffin of Troutville defeated tournament medalist Jimmy Forehand of Lynchburg in his first match Friday and then knocked off Robby Rasmussen to reach today's final of the Virginia State Golf Association Junior Match Play Championship.

Griffin trailed by a stroke after the first nine holes at Boonsboro Country Club as Forehand shot a 33. He drew even with birdies on No. 14 and No. 16 and took the 2-up victory when Forehand had a double bogey-bogey finish. Griffin beat Rasmussen 2 and 1 after Rasmussen got by Raymond Harrell of Salem 2 and 1.

Griffin will meet Chip Glover of Verona in the finals. Glover defeated Roanoke's Joe Surkamer 5 and 4.
