OBIT HAWKINS, OWEN ASHLEY

HAWKINS, Owen Ashley, 78, of Roanoke, died Sunday, June 27, 1993, in a local hospital. Retired from Appalachian Power Company after many years of service, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, an American Red Cross Volunteer, active in Roanoke Appalachian Retired Employees Association, and APPA-MO Club. Surviving are his wife, Ethel F. Hawkins of Roanoke; one daughter, Myrna L. Gibson of Richmond; two sons, Alan W. Hawkins of McDonald, Tenn. and Dallas O. Hawkins of Georgetown, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Meyer of Roanoke; one brother, Eugene Hawkins of St. Albans, W.Va. Services are at Oakey's South Chapel Tuesday, June 29, 1993, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives at Oakey's South Chapel only on Monday, June 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers or food, contributions may be made to the Roanoke Rehabilitation Cancer Center.
