BATES-MARTIN

Richard and Shirley Bates of Huddleston announce the engagement of their daughter, Teresa Lynnette, to James W. Martin, son of Joyce Martin of Salem. Miss Bates is a graduate of Lynchburg College and is currently teaching sixth grade with Roanoke City Schools. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Frances Dickson, Mr. Richard Bates, Sr. and Mary A. Bates. Mr. Martin is a graduate of Roanoke College and is a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps currently serving at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred U. Young of Salem. A December wedding is planned.
