A car bomb was smuggled across the Iraq-Kuwaiti border the night of April 12. FBI experts said key components were built by the same people who built bombs previously recovered from the Iraqis.
Other explosives seized, including "cube bombs," contained components built by the same people who built similar devices recovered from the Iraqis.
"The car bomb itself possessed devastating power." Forensic experts concluded it had the power to kill people within a 400-yard radius. It was built to allow detonation by manual remote control or by timer.\ \ SUSPECTS
Two of the main suspects on trial in Kuwait told the FBI they had been recruited and received orders in Basra, Iraq, from people they believed were associated with the Iraqi Intelligence Service.
Suspects told the FBI their Iraqi recruiters gave them the car bomb and other explosives in Basra on April 12.
One suspect told the FBI he was recruited specifically to assassinate Bush. \ INTELLIGENCE
Classified intelligence sources support the conclusion that the Iraqi government ordered the attack against Bush.
The CIA was "highly confident" that the Iraqi government "at the highest levels" directed its intelligence service to assassinate Bush.
