OBIT THURMAN, MARY LUCILLE HORN
THURMAN, Mary Lucille Horn, 85, of Vinton, died Friday, June 25, 1993, in a
local hospital. She was the daughter of Thomas and Eliza Horn and the widow of
Nelson R. Thurman. Mrs. Thurman was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph
and Foye Horn; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy (Luther) Falls of Asheville, N.C.; one
nephew, Gary Falls of Florida. She was a long time member of the Thrasher
Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are nephews, Douglas Horn, Ronald
Horn, both of Roanoke, Michael Horn, Newcastle; nieces, Donna Brookman and
Anne Keith, both of Vinton, Judith Fields, Roanoke and Vicki Evans, Asheville,
N.C.; sisters-in-law, Janet Horn Clayton, Roanoke County, Beatrice Horn
Snodgrass, Vinton. Funeral services will be at the Thrasher Memorial United
Methodist Church, 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Anthony W. Layman and Dr.
George Wesley Jones officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery,
Vinton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the
Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends
from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
