ROANOKE SOCCER TEAM WINS TOURNEY

The Roanoke Star under-19 girls' soccer team recorded three shutout victories en route to a first place finish at the Kingsport Invitational which concluded Sunday in Kingsport, Tenn.

Beth Kirby had three goals and six assists as the Star beat the Cincinnati Flames 3-0, the Cincinnati Redhawks 8-0 and the Johnson City (Tenn.) Falcons 7-0.

Scherrie Dalton was the goalkeeper and Liz Wedemeyer provided outstanding defense at midfielder.
