BURGE ON WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES TEAM

Former University of Virginia basketball player Heidi Burge was named Sunday to the USA Women's World University Games team.

The 6-foot-5 center from Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., is one of 12 women on the team which will train in Colorado Springs, Colo. until July 2. The team will play two exhibition games before the World University Games begins July 7 in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Roanoke Stars advanced to the third round of the AAU 12-and-under girls' basketball tournament with a victory on Sunday in Hartford, Conn.

The Stars beat Indiana II 70-61 and face Connecticut I tonight in the double-elimination tournament sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Union.
