DOUG, OLLIE OR CHUCK TO THE RESCUE

HELP! I'm down and I can't get up, and I'm not sure about the helping hand that might reach me.

Doug Wilder wants to run for the U.S. Senate, only he's not sure if he is going to oppose Chuck Robb for the Democratic nomination or run as an independent.

On the other hand, there are some who want to see Oliver North nominated by the Republicans.

I certainly don't think Doug Wilder can do anything more for the state of Virginia - unless we need a good detective.

Oliver North, of course, broadcast all his shortcomings to the entire nation, saying he was only following the president's orders.

That leaves Chuck Robb, who hasn't done such a bad job considering all he had to endure from Doug and the Republicans. Robb at least was working, while Doug was hunting foul play, and Ollie, no doubt, was living high off the hog.

Remember, don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see - you could be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Oh, by the way, if I can reach the phone, I think I'll just call 911.
