FEEDER-CATTLE ASSOCIATION SALE

The Dublin Feeder Cattle Association has scheduled a summer yearling all-breed steer and heifer sale for July 14, Montgomery County Agriculture Extension Agent Joe Hunnings reports. Like the regular spring and fall sales, this will be a graded sale for producers with truckload-sized stocker lots looking to reduce their herds during the slack, hot-weather grass season which takes its toll on cattle gains.

Hunnings said the sale will benefit producers by joining their cattle with those of other producers to beef up marketing through increased numbers and packaging of like breeds, sizes and sexes.

He recommended that producers who have matched herd size for lush, spring grass growth consider taking advantage of this special graded sale to keep the rest of their herd growing at a good rate.
