MANY ANGLERS WIND UP WINNERS

Lots of competitors ended up winners in the WJJJ-Claytor Lake State Park Fishing Tournament.

In the catfish category, there was nothing to compare with the 7-pound, 3-ounce monster caught by an ecstatic Bobby Cook.

Jeff Bolling brought in the winning sunfish at 6 1/2 ounces.

The largest crappie, reeled in by Mark Armentrout, weighed 1 pound, 4 ounces; while the largest smallmouth bass, weighing 2 pounds, 5 1/2 ounces, was caught by Charles Spraker.

In the largemouth bass category, Michael Troy brought in a fish weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces. Each winner received a trophy and $50.

In the junior division (13 and under), the largest sunfish, 10 ounces, was caught by 10-year-old Christy Dillon.

Seven-year-old Zachary Thompson won with a 1-pound, 5-ounce catfish, while 10-year-old Wayne Sutphin Jr. brought in the winning smallmouth bass at 1-pound, 3 ounces.

The trophy for largemouth bass went to 9-year-old Rachel Ogle, who hauled in a 1-pound, 3-ounce behemoth.

Each of the winners in the junior division received a trophy and $25.

Anyone bringing "Sly Sam" back alive to the radio station before Labor Day will get a consolation prize.
