CRESTAR APPLIES FOR NYSE STOCK LISTING

Crestar Financial Corp. has filed an application to list its common stock on the New York Stock Exchange.

Chairman Richard G. Tilghman said he expects Crestar stock to begin trading in late July under the Symbol "CF." The company has 38 million shares that trade through NASDAQ.

Tilghman said listing on the NYSE "will help us reach a broader base of investors domestically and abroad."
