PULASKI COUNTY SCHOOLS' SUPERINTENDENT TAKES CONTRACT

Pulaski County School Superintendent William Asbury said Tuesday he had decided to accept a new four-year contract Tuesday offered by the School Board.

He was to inform the board of his acceptance at its meeting Tuesday night.

Asbury still has a year to go on his first contract. He started as superintendent near the end of 1990, coming from Caroline County, about 25 miles north of Richmond, where he had been superintendent for seven years.

He is a native of Bluefield, W.Va., and earned his doctorate from the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1968, including tours in Vietnam as an infantry platoon commander and battalion intelligence officer.
