Four members of the Roanoke Academy of Gymnastics advanced team competed recently in the U.S. Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs' national championships in Orlando, Fla.

In the senior open division, Kelli Newcomb placed 12th in the nation on beam (9.15) and 15th in the nation all around (37.025).

In the intermediate optional division, Dawn Turpin scored 35.00, Erin Lester scored 34.25, and Holly Saunders scored 33.50 all around.

Cherokee Hills group elects new officers

The Cherokee Hills Community Association has elected officers for the 1993-94 years.

They are: James W, Reynolds, president: George Dunkenberger, vice-president; Bill Cundiff, secretary; and Charles Angstadt, treasurer.
