IN SCHOOL

HOLLEY ANN HADDAD, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Haddad of Roanoke, has received the $300 Anne Jett Rogers scholarship from the Roanoke Symphony Volunteer Association.

Haddad, 21, was a member of the Roanoke Youth Symphony and won the Young Artists' award in 1987. Her major instrument is the clarinet.

Haddad left Cave Spring High School at the end of her junior year to attend a seniors program at the North Carolina School for the Arts. She remained and graduated from there this spring with a bachelor's degree in music. She is headed to graduate school at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

She won the 1993 Affiliate Artists "Talent for America" competition and won the North Carolina School of the Arts Concerto competition. She is the principal clarinet for the school's orchestra. In 1991 and 1992 she toured Europe as a member and soloist for the summer orchestra of the International Music Program.
