OBIT-ADAMS, MARY JONES (MRS. HUGH)

ADAMS, Mary Jones (Mrs. Hugh), of Tazewell, died Wednesday, June 30, 1993 in a Bluefield, W. Va. Hospital after a long illness. She was born December 10, 1889, in Mecklenburg County, but had lived most of her life in Rockbridge Baths. She was a former school teacher and fraternity house mother at Washington & Lee University, Lexington and Rhodes College, Memphis, Tenn. She is survived by a daughter, Anne Adams Bishop, Tazewell; a daughter-in-law, Virginia H. Adams, Richmond; grandchildren Hugh and Deane Adams, Richmond, Joseph Adams, Walnut Cove, N.C., Charles Bishop, Burke; and three great-grandchildren, Julie, Jay and Scott Adams, Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Rockbridge Baths, Saturday, July 3, at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or to the Memorial Fund of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Peery & StClair Funeral Home, Tazewell, is in charge of the arrangements.
