Then his house began to shake and Winslow thought the Radford Army Ammunition Plant had exploded.
But he found it was a truck crashing into the living room of his home at 605 Givens Lane.
Blacksburg police said the truck was headed east when the driver lost control.
The truck left the road, traveled about 92 feet and struck the front door.
The door was demolished and the front porch partially collapsed. The truck came to rest in the living room of Winslow's home, destroying some furniture.
Winslow, who was alone in the house, was not injured.
Police charged the truck driver, Scott Edward Leiffer, 24, of Blacksburg, with driving under the influence.
Police estimated damage to the house at $8,500 and to the truck at $3,000.
