OBIT-THORNHILL, MR. JOHN ELBERT

THORNHILL, Mr. John Elbert, 81, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 4, 1993. He started the Pic Quik Market in the Roanoke area in 1952, overseeing all eight locations. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and former member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Geneva McCauley Thornhill; his daughters, Amy Lee Thornhill Pakula, M.D. of Atlanta, Ga., and Katherine Joanna Thornhill, Roanoke; his son-in-law, Jonathan H. Pakula of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Glenn O. Thornhill Sr. of Roanoke; sisters, Ruth Thornhill Dover, South Carolina, Eunice Thornhill Cooner of Florida. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 1993, 2 p.m. at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel by Dr. George K. Bowers. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
