OBIT-SMALLWOOD, GARLAND BERKLEY

SMALLWOOD, Garland Berkley, 71, of Bryans Road, Waldorf, Md., and formerly of Huddleston, passed away Sunday, July 4, 1993. He was a son of the late Glen Jefferson Smallwood and Deborah Wright Smallwood. He was preceded in death by one sister, Oreta Howell and five brothers, Moorman Smallwood, Raymond Smallwood, Harry Smallwood, A.J. Smallwood, Paul (Jack) Smallwood. He is survived by his wife, Odessa Stevens Smallwood; a daughter, Belinda Kennon, Waldorf, Md.; a son, Berkley Smallwood, White Plains, Md.; four grandchildren, Wendy Ludwick, James Ludwick II, Amanda Jo Smallwood, Wade Smallwood; one great-grandchild, Joshua Tyler Cline; eight sisters, Cedola Dunkle, Helen Radford, Marie Ewing, Frances Rumpf, Edith Witt, all of Bedford; Mildred Daniel, Hurt, Arlene Carter, Virginia Beach, Margaret Burnette, District Heights, Md.; two brothers, V.E. Smallwood, Bedford, Berry Smallwood, Silver Spring, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 7, 1993 at 11 a.m. from the Palestine Baptist Church by the Rev. Christopher Fowler. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Huddleston.
