The article reported the following: "Homosexual politics is masquerading today as `civil rights'," declared the resolution, which also contended that "homosexual conduct and other learned sexual deviance have nothing in common with the moral movement to stop discriminating against race and gender."
If the scientific profession can't be sure if homosexuals are born homosexuals or if it's a personal choice, how can this Baptist resolution be so sure? Why would anyone choose to submit themselves to the discrimination and violence (gay bashing) homosexuals still face in our society today?
All human beings, regardless of individual differences, including race, gender and sexual preferences, are guaranteed the same rights in our country. No exclusions, until the military ban, which I oppose.
When raising children, if parents would tell them that people are people and not categorize them as black, Hispanic or homosexual, etc., we'd have a much more civilized society. Please, let's drop the labels. NANCY A. JONES ROANOKE
